Firewood Questions
A cord of firewood is a stacked measurement four feet high, four feet wide, and 8 feet long ( 4 x 4 x 8 ).
A face cord of firewood is 1/3rd of a cord of firewood.
A full cord of wood usually has three, eight foot rows of stacked firewood. One row would be a face cord.
All of our firewood is cut at a length of 16 inches. Longer pieces can be easily made but would require a special order. Contact Us for more details!
As a general rule of thumb, seasoned firewood has a moisture content below 20%. This process takes about 6 months to a year for wood to fully season, but certain practices can speed up the process.
The bins we use are recycled ICB Totes. The wood is stored, measured, and seasoned using the bins. Using the bins allows us to keep our measurement and firewood consistent.
One bin when stacked will be about 1/4 – 1/3rd of a cord of wood. This is the most popular amount of wood sold.
Cooking Firewood Questions
In our experience kiln drying cooking firewood eliminates most of the flavor from the wood. A slower natural drying process allows for the wood to retain most of its natural wood flavor.
202 Wood Products only stocks woods that are native to New Jersey and can be harvested locally.
Post Oak, Pecan, and Mesquite are woods that are native in the southern part of the United States.
However, Post Oak is a white oak, and Pecan is a hickory tree. 202 Wood Products has both white oak and hickory stocked year round.
